Default SME V and moving coil cartridges???

So after a long delay, I have an SME V with the MSC150 internal wiring that's on the way and will arrive shortly. Now I just have to wait for VPI to cut the new armboard for my Aries 3 tt, and I'll be set up and ready for some turntable action.

Does anyone have any input regarding the suggestion I've read that the SME V is designed or optimized for moving coil cartridges? Is this just marketing or is the internal wire in the arm best suited to low output moving coil cartridges? Are higher output and moving magnet cartridges frowned upon with the SME V?

I have a medium compliance Soundsmith Aida (high output moving iron) on hand that I was considering trying; the resonant frequency using the popular excel spreadsheet works out to be just over 8 Hz. On paper this would seem to be at the low end of acceptable levels to match the arm with the cartridge.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I've never had any problems using the SME V, IV.VI or the 309 with any type of cartridge...

It's just a good enough arm that it's perhaps a bit overkill for a MM cart, but it will work fine.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks for the info, Jeff.
