+1, I ran my Ovation with Clarify arm with Benz SLR Gullwing low output with great results.
I replaced it with a Koetsu Jade Platinum. Huge upgrade.
It impressed my friend so much he purchased a Koetsu Signature wood and it sounds great as well.

Your choice will also depend upon your phono preamplifiers gain. The Jade has a measly 0.2 mv output, but oh how those volts dance. [emoji4]

There was a thread a couple years ago (on another forum) that described the re-launched, limited Benz lineup. It only includes the Ebony, Ruby Z, and LPS-MR. But there may be more availability for the other models (e.g. Gullwing) in Asia/Europe? And I'm not sure if that's new production or old stock.

I started out in analog 11 years ago with a Benz Glider L2 and a Dynavector P75. Man, what a sweet starter setup! Thankful to this day that I started out "right". My next upgrade went to the Ortofon Kontrapunkt "c" (great cart; I think I enjoyed it more than its successor the Cadenza Bronze), with no particular reason for the brand switch. Had I stuck with Benz, I would've eventually arrived at the LPS, which probably wouldn't be a bad place to stay for a while! Too bad about the seemingly limited availability. I can't find the better models online, either. Seems to be nearly a "one man show" at Benz. Hate it when that happens.

Sorry ChrisAZ, I didn’t check your location. I believe the situation in Europe is much better now, but this has obviously not been the case for you in the US.

LOL, me as well.

Let me preface this by saying I’ve never heard this cart and likely can’t without buying one. But from what I’ve read (and I’ve read the entire internet at this point), from a performance, set up and price perspective, it seems that the Kiseki Purpleheart N.S. is the way to go. I’m having my Lyra Delos installed on my new TT/TA, but as I save my pennies for the next upgrade this really seems to be the way to go. I’ve never read such rave reviews. Feel free to disabuse me of this conclusion.

The Kiseki's compliance specs are much more up the Universal arm's alley than a Koetsu. And price is good. If it's got that sweet sweet midrange and works well with a Universal, it could be a winner! Hell I might want to try one some day.

Kiseki cartridges are from the same stable as PrimaLuna, helmed by Herman van den Dungen in Holland.
