Dan, that is very impressive. I have always enjoyed using my hands and learning about how things 'work.' Maybe this is something I would have enjoyed doing everyday.

Dan, now that is a HT!
Seriously, that is one hell of an achievement. You are justifiably proud of that one. WOW! |

Whart, I am not sure why you believe this to be the case: I have a 100A Equi=Tech sub panel with 10 dedicated balanced lines for my audio/video equipment and the only tricky part was running the dedicated lines (and installing a dedicated ground, but that is another story).

Everytime I'm in Daytona Beach and drive by the Performing Arts Center on International Speedway Boulevard I get puffed up with pride. Two years of my life, along with a great electrical crew, went into the building. Here's a photo of me at the drawing table in my jobsite office trailer.

Bill.......I looked at the Equi=Tech 10WQ balanced power distribution panel as a replacement for my sub-panel in my two room recording studio addition that I built on my home. The actual installation is straight forward, feeding it with 240 volt/50 amp power and ground. I already have 240 volt/60 amps available in the studio. My existing dedicated circuits could wire directly onto the power distribution terminals in the 10WQ. The biggest challenge would be getting the 350 lb. cabinet installed on a wall in an accessible area with proper working clearances, and ensuring code compliant grounding. Also, since there are presently no dedicated 120 volt balanced power type receptacles approved by the NEC, proper labeling is required at each balanced outlet, and no single pole switching can be used on the balanced circuits. Other than that, installing the Equi=Tech panel is straight forward business for a qualified electrician.
My biggest hurdle with the Equi=Tech 10WQ is the price. At over $12K, the price was a shocker since the only high value item in the cabinet is a specially manufactured toroidal transformer. The two pole circuit breakers, ground fault circuit interrupters, and the hinged cover NEMA 12 steel cabinet with back plate are all basic commodity items that can be purchased at an electrical supply wholesaler. Despite the price, the Equi=Tech balanced power distribution panels appear to be excellent products that offer the advantages of extremely low noise for connected electronics in your home or professional facility.

Whart, congrats on your change! I wish you the best of luck.
I guess I have no excuse to at least think about a change. |
