I'm thinking that McIntosh's thinking may be something like the ring is to become a symbol of their top tier products-hence its presence on the MC-1.25kw and the MC901.

The ring has certainly brought a good amount of scorn, and while I have some mixed feelings about it myself, I don't consider it a deal-breaker. I think we may have to learn to embrace it; it seems that McIntosh must be getting enough positive feedback on it that they are continuing to put it on their new top tier products.

Another thought-I can remember when not everyone thought the 3D glass panels were a winner either.

In my opinion the more knobs the better. My C47 only has 2 knobs and it's actually pretty annoying to have to dig through menus to change all the trim functions like balance, treble, and bass. I would much prefer it if there were dedicated knobs for all the various features.
