FS: TAD CR-1 Mk II

For sale are my TAD CR-1, MK II with stands. These were purchased new from Ivan in 2016 and have been in a child free, smoke free home since then. You won't see these on the used market very often, but they are absolutely fabulous speakers - world class in every way. The only reason I am selling them is that I bought their big brother, the R-1s, from Mark/SCAudiophile. I've had those in storage for more than a year while my home was renovated, but they have finally been liberated and are downstairs in the new room as I type this.

They have concentric drivers, with a beryllium tweeter, implemented in a unique manner by TAD that will just knock your socks off - and likely expand your sweet spot by a fair bit. They have a front port, so they go down lower than one would expect for a "monitor" speaker. I ran them with and without subs - I didn't miss the bass, but I missed the other things that subs bring (I also run their big brothers with subs (and the big boys have two 10 inch woofers). To call them a monitor is a bit of a misstatement - as they weigh ~120 lbs each and could no more sit on a shelf than I could. I can send photos to serious inquirers.

I have all original materials and packaging, which includes four boxes. If they are shipped, I would recommend a pallet for shipping, but they came to me separately via UPS. I also have and will include two deluxe dust covers from Radio Dust Covers (which are great if you haven't run into them). I am offering them for $20,000, net to me, which is about half of what I paid, and a fabulous deal for a lifetime speaker. I will deliver or meet you within three hours of Atlanta, and will offer a discount for a local pick up. If you ship via a pallet, you are responsible for arranging the carrier, etc. (we have a good shipping broker if needed). If I ship them via UPS or FedEx Ground, you pay actual costs, including insurance if you so desire. I will accept all forms of payment, including a well cleared personal check, but pricing is net received by me with no weirdness or contingencies.

This is a rare opportunity and I'm hoping to sell them to someone in the community. Will go to Audiogon for a higher price if not sold here pretty quickly. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
