New HP Desktop Computer Up And Running

In addition to setting up my new computers, I reformatted the hard drive on the Micron, installed a fresh copy of Windows XP, and lots of useful software (Word, Excel, Publisher, Money, Photo Suite, Pinnacle Studio Plus, Roxio CD and DVD burning software, Microsoft Streets and Trips, and Norton Internet Security. I went through the entire operating system upgrade process (over 140 separate upgrades for Windows XP, including Service Pack 2 and 3). The Micron PC is set up fresh, and ready for its new owner.

Speaking of new owners, Marlene has a friend, a single working mom with two kids, who is barely making ends meet trying to work, pay rent, feed and raise those two kids. I asked Marlene to find out if her friend has a computer, and if not would she like the Micron. As it turned out, she does not have a computer, so the Micron will be going to her. Marlene and I will go to her home later this week and I will set it up for her. I am giving her the Micron PC with fresh operating system and software, a LaserJet 6P printer, Logitech speakers, Microsoft Media keyboard, a new Microsoft optical wheel mouse, a Linksys wireless router (the Micron has a wireless card installed), and a Samsung 23" widescreen flat panel monitor. She is so happy to be getting the computer, and her kids are excited, too. I'm happy to help someone who needs a computer, and pleased to know that the Micron PC will continue to provide a useful function to a family who needs it.

Dan...that's a good deed my friend. Congrats on helping this family. They'll appreciate it for years to come.

Marlene's friend called her this evening to let her know she found a computer desk with a pull out keyboard drawer at a used furniture store this afternoon. She is truly excited about her new computer, and she's trying to get prepared for its arrival. This is fun. I am happy for her.

THIS IS GREAT!!!! Dan finds a home in need of his computer and his friends on AA all get a "good feeling inside" about it. Good deeds are felt by good people.

Thank you gentlemen. It is enjoyable to help others when the opportunity presents itself. It puts a smile on my face and in my heart. I am looking forward to setting the whole computer package up for her Thursday afternoon, and helping her and the kids to get up to speed. Life is good.

E.......No doubt about it, having computer and Internet access enhances our lives. The Micron PC still has a lot of years of service to offer. I am happy to provide it to someone who needs it.

I customized my new HP Pavilion Elite computer yesterday. The LED that lights the power button was too bright, so I pulled the front cover off the computer and partially painted the LED with black paint. That toned it down considerable, and is much more to my liking. While I had the front off I noticed there was a recessed window around the other LED that lights the HP logo in the middle of the computer's face. I had some left over McIntosh blue meter filter jell sheets, so I cut one to fit in the recess area. I put the computer face place back on , and now my HP logo glows McIntosh blue. Sweeeet!
