^^^^^Wonderful Jim!

Listening to Schönberg - String Quartet No. 4 - String Sextet "Verklärte Nacht
Prazak Quartet with Vladimir Bukac - Petr Prause

One very modern work, one romantic piece.
Both wonderfully executed.

More Schönberg: Die Jakobsleiter - Friede auf Erden
Rundfunkchor Berlin
Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin
, Kent Nagano

Quite fascinating works.
The discrete surround channels add to the experience.
Well done.

Going back into the past with a delicious album:

Haydn - Cello Concertos 1 & 2 - Symphony No. 60
Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Jan Willem de Vriend
Quirine Viersen, violoncello

Delightful music, terrific (surround) sound, excellent performances.
I am a happy man.

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Yuri Temirkanov

Passion, firework!
Unfortunately, the sound is awful.

More Baroque music to enjoy on a snowy, cold day here. Lively performances by the excellent AAM and Richard Egarr. The music is very nice too (I heard on the radio that it was Handel's publisher who put these concerti grossi together without Handel's knowledge to capitalize on Corelli's popularity ).

The listed AAM lead violinist, Pavlo Beznosiuk, is the leader of the Avison Ensemble who records for Linn. Good SACD sound rounds out a nice release.
Today I pulled this out and played it several times.

Baroque music is the bomb.
