Default 601 : need aficionados opinions...

On my new 601 I have a difference with the meter...

Whatever the source, they are not aligned, normal in itself, but it is always the same with the needle is between 0.5 and 1cm in almost constant withdrawal from the other on the hold position. With a variant, on the classic music this is clearly less sensitive ...

This doesn't seem to affect the image which seems perfect.

Thanks in advance for your inputs...

Blatrie.......Where do the meter needles rest with no signal? Are the both pointing directly at the first bar of the meter log when in the rest position?

Bonjour Dan,

My first name is Laurent and as a special friend you can use it ! and will be honored of...

They are at 0 Signal at the same place, it's after that that the situation is not normal.

But hereafter is as usual a fast and and useful answer from Ryan/AC which works !

"That is a simple adjustment of the meter calibration. This is located behind the front panel under a shroud. You will have to remove the two top screws behind the front panel, then the side screws on the left and right side behind the panel. Pull that cover straight up and off. Then you will see against the front panel, the board and on the top corner of the board there will be a white box that says meter. That is how you calibrate the meter."

Hope it could help...

Send a mono signal and check the meters at 2/3 the way up as Mac allows some deviation between them.

Laurent,

Before adjusting the meters on the amplifiers, I would first swap left/right cables from the preamp to make sure it is not somehow a lower signal coming from the preamp. In other words, switch left and right cables to amp. If the same amp is still lower than the other, you can be sure the meter needs adjustment. If the other amp is now lower, it’s either the source or the preamp that is not balanced properly.
