You guys are laughing but I bet there are about a dozen of you here that own a version of the original box. Ask Ivan. "I think" he purchased what was available plus some glass blanks.

That is a very good point!

Yeah, wow. If McIntosh was looking to spark conversation, objective accomplished.

Keep in mind that the original light boxes, much like the P349 switchbox, were intended for use in McIntosh dealers showrooms. So, that added a bit to the allure for collectors.

I dont think this product at 1,500 USD is doing any favour to the brand. Some people already think that Mcintosh is overpriced and this supports their theories.

I love Mcintosh but for example i wanted to buy a TT from them and i always had the feeling that it would be like buying a ClearAudio but paying 2,000 aditional USD for the Mcintosh logo.

Can I think this way: normally a McIntosh gear is overpriced by $1500, and that’s why they label a zero value thing at such price...

At $1500, it would be a bargain at half the price.

I have a R778 dealer sign and love it (thank you Ivan).
Fact is, they sell on EBay all day long between $1100 to $1500.
Personally, I like the new box! Pretty cool.
Some of the guys complaining about the price, own tens of thousands of dollars in Mc gear. Another $1500 for a really cool sign will break the bank??? Come on...stop your whining. You KNOW you want one (or two).

The $1,800 McIntosh clock idea which I believe originated as a tongue in cheek suggestion by our own jdandy was ridiculously over priced; but, at least it did something.

The LB100 does nothing but illuminate a $2.00 silk screened piece of glass with a LED bulb.

I'm fastened to my seat with a belt so I don't fall off the chair when someone captures a photo of the "guts" and all. I wonder if the LED is hardwired to a $.50 cent circuit board?

The original R778 dealer sign was much prettier and it came with a very nice walnut cabinet and sells, when available for around $1K. At least it's nostalgic, has a time reference and is coveted because it wasn't mass produced for profit at the time. It had a purpose in a dealership lucky to get one.

As a McIntosh enthusiast, the LB100 should be scrapped to give us all a break from ridiculous excessive excess which overall tarnishes the brand and eye roll those who are & aren't McIntosh loyalists.

Best Sirs,

Bob
