On second thought are you sure it's your internet and not Tidal? I have 100Mbps and my Tidal cuts out sometimes.

Well, with all the variables, it's hard to know for sure. Streaming is new to me, and I'm still working things out. We can stream Netflix and Amazon video just fine, even at peak hours when my speed drops to between one and two some times. Supposed to be getting 5-10, which we usually do --just not during primetime.

Sometimes I'll be listening to Tidal through Roon, and can't get anything to play. It will start OK, then break-up, then I'll get a message saying "This tune is not available from Tidal at this time"", or something like that.

Next time that happens go and try to play one of Jay-Z buddy's tracks. Almost every time I'm listening to something and it keeps cutting in and out Tidal will play pop or rap just fine.

(Sorry I didn't mean to hijack your thread.)

I'll take "The Sound of Silence" over anything by JZ or any of his pals.

No worries about the thread--James answered my question with his first post.

Agree 100000000%. But that was the reason I cancelled Tidal orginally. I only subscribed again because I bought a Sim Audio MiND player. Now I can't wait to get away from it again.

Because of all the hip-hop/rap? (Is there a difference?) I just use the Genre or search functions, or access from Roon. Tons of new (and old) music to explore. I'll never buy hard media again. Or pay for downloads.

Maybe I should never say never.

I cancelled it organically because of all the biasing towards that specific genre. Constant buffering on anything but Rap/Pop, recommendations always Rap/Pop, etc etc. (And I don't like Jay-Z as a human) Spotify does a wonderful job at putting together recommendations, but the quality sucks. Everyone says to use Roon but I just haven't got into it.

The MQA thread seems to have died down. Have you had any further thoughts on the matter? I would be a lot happier buying an upgraded BDP that did MQA than adding a third party unit into the chain.
Get the BDP-3.
