The MT-10 comes with one, so I just use that. I think the MT-5 comes with one as well.

I preferred the Stillpoints LPI versus the stock McIntosh clamp on the MT10

I bought an MT-5 in 2016. I hated the Blu-Point 2 and switched it out for my old favorite Shure V15 Type III which was much richer sounding and tracked beautifully. Later, I found a new OEM McIntosh MT-10 cartridge (the new version) on one of the audio trading sites for about $700. It's really a ClearAudio Talismann 2 Gold cartridge with a McIntosh nameplate. Along with my vacuum tube MP-1100 phono preamp (which BTW will go down in history as one of McIntosh's best products ever), I'm in audio nirvana the Berlin Philharmonic's direct-to-disk Brahms symphony LP set is like sitting 10th row center in the Philharmonie Hall (something that the Shure V15 played through the same electronics doesn't give me).

I'm curious as to what MP-10 owners think of the MT-10 cartridge and how many of you have upgraded to something different. I personally don't think that the MP-10 cartridge->MP1100 can be surpassed in terms of sound....

For what it's worth, I don't see it either. I'm on an iMac. It says "Third party hosting has been temporarily disabled."

The MT-5 comes with a record weight which is the same as the one included with the MT-10.

Either the MT5 or the MT2 could meet my needs for vinyl playback. I have demoed the MT5 and find the cartridge to be a week point. In fact I actively dislike it enough to perhaps not get either. I wish Mac would make the cartridge optional or at least provide a selection.

In the up to $1,500 or so price point what would you recommended one looks at. Any thoughts on a Lyra Delos or something from Ortofon or even Grado? Other options?

Thanks

I too hated the Sumiko BluPoint 2 cartridge (see my review above). I believe that the reason they used this cartridge was that Sumiko and McIntosh are owned by the same company. I think that in order to differentiate between the MT-2 and the more expensive MT-5 that they might consider putting a mid-priced ClearAudio MM or MC cartridge on the MT-5.

As I said above, I love my MT-5 with the MT-10 cartridge (a ClearAudio Talismann II-Gold disguised as a McIntosh product) installed.

Just got a used MT-10 yesterday and was setting it up yesterday. Was anyone else’s tone arm height off? I used the little shim and I still had to raise the tone arm up to make it parallel.

Also, I noticed some of my records don’t fit on the spindle.

And I noticed the queuing arm lever sometimes doesn’t lower the tone arm all the way down to the record and sometimes moves it a little to the side.

Anyone else have similar problems?
