Having heard the Elipsa's David in a very nice setup, and then having a pair of Stradivari's, IMHO, you have made the right decision. Further audio enjoyment doesn't necessarily mean you need to change (for change sakes).

David is right. The Elipsa's in David's room provide great sound, image like crazy and play low. They work very well in his room again, probably in no small part because they were set up my our own Metaphacts.

Davids room is bright to me but he likes it that way and well, it's his room! To me, that may over power any comparison I could make between the Elipsa's in his room and the Strads in mine. My room is sealed, mostly Whisper clipped drywall over concrete walls and much more heavily damped (GIK kit) than the main room and adjoining rooms that David is using which are untreated and perhaps the next step in his audio journey??? Hint...

So, I can fully understand why David is not jumping in feet first to buy Strads. He has a great sounding room!

Thanks David, great to have some time & fun on AA . Won't bore you with historical present.

As you may recall, I had a C500T combo and loved it, but got the bug and obtained a VAC Signature Mark II preamp w/phono from KH. I was very specific with KH about the cartridge I would be using and he built the phono section to those specs. When I received the two box unit, it was beautiful, gorgeous, impeccable hand-wire-to-wire & soldered build quality inside, etc.

Over a fairly short period of time, I began saying to myself, there is something lacking in the definition & detail & strove to find the right words to describe my second guessing. Finally, settled on the words "lack of synergy" between it and the MC2301's.

I kept this going for some time -- digital was great, but not the phono side. Especially not from what I wanted to remember with the great MC section inside the C500 box.

So when McIntosh introduced the C1100 in September 2015 or thereabouts and waited for the word on the street. Months pass and I was able to read a few owners comments and a couple reviewers, but the one that I recall in total was JD's of ToneAudio. After reading it, months later, I closed the laptop, called my dealer and ordered one. The best decision I had made at that time. The handshake, synergy, whatever you want to call what was missing with the VAC was no more. I've learned my lesson; don't get too fancy fella, McIntosh preamps with McIntosh amps. Period.

As far as the Stradivaris' go -- they go lower than the Raidho by 8hz, have similar sensitivity numbers (92 vs 90) & are prettier than the Raidho, but once I heard the ribbon tweeter on the Raidho, I melted. Just to name one facet, piano clarity and realism was in spades & bass was there low enough for me to appreciate the whole package.
