Default INT-250 review

TAS' review of the INT-250 is now on their website....

Pass Labs INT-250 Integrated Amplifier | The Absolute Sound

I wonder if the 150 will be re-issued in this handsome case. 60 may be too little and 250 too much. The goldilocks in me thinks the 150 may be just right.

Went ahead and got the INT-250 after realizing that the Ayre AX5Twenty was simply never going to drive the woofers on the B&W 803s. Who'da thunk there'd be such a difference between a 125 wpc integrated and a 250 wpc integrated. Poor initial matching, for sure.

Not only does the PASS deliver deep defined bass, but there's now breadth, depth and height across the entire sonic range. It creates such three-dimensional imaging.

Also gone is the harsh brightness that the Ayre created in the mid and high range. I've been transported from ten inches above the piano strings to mid-center loge section for sonata performances. Warm timber with no loss of detail. Ahhhh.....

Bonus is the continued impeccable customer-friendly responsiveness by the staff at PASS. Even regarding shipping. I'm not eager for things like this to be in UPS/FedEx's possession longer than necessary due to the exposure to possible damage. PASS agreed to ship direct to me in order to eliminate initial trek to dealer that would have doubled the ship time, plus agreed to ship on day most convenient for my schedule. When I had asked same of Ayre -- 'nyet!'

Hi aardvarkbark, congratulations.
The Int-250 should be awesome. Did you have a chance to hear int-60?
How does Int-250 compares with it?
Thanks.

@mj123 -- I didn't hear either the 60 nor the 250 before buying, frankly. I just wanted an integrated with 175+ wpc (8 ohms), and wanted to avoid Class A heat. I was going to ask on your thread if you're enjoying warmth and dimension too. I'm guessing that these are shared characteristics of these two integrateds.

To your question about power cords, I've been using the PASS-supplied one. I ordered the least expensive Transparent (Gen 5 HPPL), but won't be disappointed if there's no discernible difference.

Hi aardvarkbark, I decided to jump into INT-250. Mark from Reno hifi (in US) offers outstanding deals and conditions. The INt-60 is great, but for my Sonus Faber Evos (86db at 4 ohms) I feel that INT-250 can be a better match with better dynamics, headroom and some more resolution. But I can loose that class A harmonics a little bit. We will see. I should get a brand new INT-250 on October 12.

That's terrific, big congrats! I sure have no regrets. You'll be wanting to hit the gym for some curls and bench presses between now and the 12th. 121 pounds is going to be sitting at your door.

As a user of the Pass XA60.5 I can inform that the heat issue on the class A design has and have never been an issue for me. Sure, they get warm. But not alarmingly so.
I love `em!

I know this is a 3 year old thread but I'm going to purchase a Pass Labs int 250 and would like to hear from owners regarding the amp. How do you like it after a few years? Do you still have it?
