Default Jvc rs35u

Anyone familiar with the JVC RS35U projector? I spoke to someone very familiar with many of the projectors out there (Larry at High End Palace) and was told it is the one to get for the money. He is very impressed with it.

I have it's sibling the RS25/HD950. Phenomenal blacks!

I hear one of the differences is the RS35 is assembled using 'handpicked' parts for a supposed tighter tolerance. Similar to the Pioneer Elite vs Signature line.

Good to know.

I am contemplating a projector purchase. I was leaning more towards the Sim2 C3X series but I am not sure I want to spend so much cash on something that seems to be still evolving every year. I don't mind a $9k projector depreciating to next to nothing in a few years but a $40k projector is also not worth much at all in no time...

I think I will probably go with the JVC and call it a day. When something much more significant comes out, I'll think about upgrading. I think the JVC will serve my purposes well for the next 3-5 years.

Serge.......The Rogers Report is a good write up on the JVC RS35U. Greg Rogers refers to it as JCV's Crown Jewel. If you haven't seen this report, go here: http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/PR...rs_reprint.pdf

Thanks Dan. I haven't done any serious research yet, this article will get me started.

I'm running the Pioneer Elite Pro FPJ1 projector that was very similar to the older JVC model and have no complaints. Price + blacks and overall performance are excellent. I could only assume the newer JVC model would be even better yet. Good luck

I just bought the JVC HD-990, which is the same as the RS-35 except it is distributed through a different channel from that of the RS series. Besides the good things Greg Rogers has to say, JVC projectors have a good reputation for reliability, and just in case the RS-35/HD-990 have a three year warranty.

On the other hand, the SIM2 projectors have not been quite so trouble-free.

I decided to go with the JVC as projector technology continues to change/improve rapidly. I think the RS-35/HD990 give great bang for the buck, and it won't hurt nearly as badly to upgrade in a couple of years as it would with a SIM2 Lumis or MICO 50.

I've had the older RS2 for 3 years now and am very happy with it...no problems and a great picture.

Glad to hear that the opinions on the JVC are positive. I will most likely go with the RS35U then.

Serge,
I put one of these up in my neighbor's house. I calibrated it after about 200 hours, and it looks stunning. It's the only reasonably priced digital projector that competes with CRT for home theater use. The technology is changing so fast that you could spend $30k on something this year and get the same level of performance for $8k next year.
