See my write-up on the Wavac amps that were used in conjunction with the Shindo Monbrison just this last Saturday. Pretty dang impressive.

Next up, we are going to put my C-J Premier 17LS in with the Wavac system. My guess is it will hold it's own quite nicely...

Sounds like you guys are having fun. More wine?

I have only heard one Wavac amp. Appears to have great build quality though personally I prefer a more traditional appearance, not that that should matter. Clearly high quality.

The DAC looks very interesting. You clearly loved it. Beautiful external design. I have a need for SACD as well which makes standalone DAC's hard to consider. Though right now I haven't used digital since I received my 301 TT.

I need to refine the set up of my speakers as they break in as I feel I haven't gotten their best yet.

I really like the looks of the Wavacs....they're beautiful in-person. The craftsmanship is of a very, very high order.

As is the Wavelength DAC, which made the Esoteric disc player sound thin and a bit compressed in soundstaging, by comparison. And the Esoteric is one of the best disc players I've ever heard!

I'm coming to the opinion that Gordon Rankin, like Caelin Gabriel and Nelson Pass, is a genius.

That's an older generation esoteric, correct?

And I can see where many would prefer the looks of the Wavacs.

Yes, but it is still very impressive. I'd like to have one!

One of the best disc players I've ever heard to date.

Given the raves on the k01/k03 here, I wonder how that compares to the wavelength?

Re: the Wavelength DACs, while I haven't heard the top-end Crimson mentioned in that other thread, my first DAC some years ago was his entry-level Brick, which I felt, despite its somewhat noticeable shortcomings in frequency extension, produced better music than DACs twice the cost. So they are certainly worth a look. I considered his DACs when I upgraded mine last year, but in the end went a different direction with a Lampy DAC (which, in my opinion, is even better ).

Richard-

The Esoteric UX-1 (I believe), was the same 'tier' as the K-01/K03 is now-

The Wavelength Silver Crimson (under sub-optimal conditions) completely kicked butt on the Esoteric, and no offense, I'm sure the K-01/K-03 would also be emasculated-

It sounded so huge, open, analogue, w/ a natural ebb & flow- Hard to believe- Of course you're welcome to come & listen for yourself-

IMHO, of course-

David
