So Glad to hear this, God Speed! Our condolences to those families in grief, what senseless thinking drives this?

So glad to hear (read) that our fellow members in Belgium are OK. But still here in this household we are all awed by what happened, and conceptually about what "is happening" as in this inexplicable madness and constant sense of terror and unease.

This needs to stop.

It is horrific, my thoughts go out to friends and loved ones. The world has become a very crazy place, and one I just wonder what is it going to take to make this threat go away.

Senseless and barbaric.

I am reading some news about Bruxelles knowingly ignoring reports about an imminent thread on airports and subways, before the attack.

If true, this is outrageous too.

We all knew it could happen.
You could feel in the air.
The police caught some extremists before a planned attack just recently.
But I don't think any country can stop all crazy people.

Bart,

It is possible to stop massive attacks in public places. Israel did it. The islamists there are left with isolated knives attacks in the streets or car rushes.
But it takes lots of energy and money.
Last attack at the Ben Gurion airport was in 1974 by a japanese pro palestinian group ( the world is crazy no ? ). Since then the airport is the safiest place in the world.
Israel knows how to protect the key places.
But strangely enough, most european countries do not ask Israel how they do it.
Now they will have to go and take lessons if they want to stop these carnages.

Belgium, it's such a rich culture and such a beautiful country, and then all this pure madness and injustice, how will it ever make sense.

More innocents hurt by a handful of deluded madmen, once again all so pointless and utterly tragic.

Anyone with a heart must surely be offended by this senseless act, and all that is good in us should stand up and absolutely refuse to give in to these cowardly attacks.

Once again we must stand beside our brothers and sisters, this time in Belgium and all resist these outrageous weak forces of hatred. The terror is completely the terrorist's weakness, not ours. We have unity against their terror and our strength in sharing with the victims in their sense of loss, pain and sorrow. Heartfelt wishes to all in Belgium.

As long as there are those who can afford high-end stereo gear and fast cars there will be those who cannot and are easily led to such acts. Especially when religion (hate?) is thrown into the mix. The venue and the people may change, but the acts will remain. Especially in this day of 'information' (how to make bombs and set them off remotely, etc.).

Good luck to us all.

My reason for starting this thread was to offer sympathy and support for the people of Belgium in what is a most difficult time. I don't think we should allow the thread to waver into other areas.
