I also have a collection of ear plugs with which I travel; but even the best can only protect so much -- especially when it comes to the lower frequencies. Even with a 20db cut, the din in the room was crazy loud ... and it was a positive feedback loop: loud room->people talk louder->louder room->people talk EVEN louder->...

Perhaps it's just me being more careful with my hearing given our hobby, but the world seems to be getting louder and louder wherever you go

Alberto - my wife and I just saw the movie and overall I don't think it was horribly loud.....there are several scenes where you'll have some intense volume with the action, but remember, most of the movie is him alone on the planet, so it's mostly dialogue compared to most of the other Hollywood blockbusters these days.

I'd say sports are meant to be seen live with a lot of people. I really enjoy movies more at home. Where I can stop the film to go to the bathroom and not pay $12 for a soda and popcorn. Just my .02 cents. Though I have been going to the movies every Tuesday for the last 3 months.

And aren't sports meant to be seen in stadiums? I do think one or two here watch movies in their theaters. To each is own!

Yep sports are meant to be seen in Stadiums and arena. I've had college football season tickets since '79 and just recently dropped my basketball tickets.
