Default Need advice

I just ordered a pair of Olympica II's and am curious what people have had the best experience with driving Sonus Faber.
Currently have a ARC Ref 110 and want to find out if most folks that own Sonus Faber have found that tubes or solid state are best to drive them?
I contacted Sumiko and asked the minimum impedance for the Olympica II but they could only tell me the nominal rating (4 ohm). My current amp tends to sound best on the 8ohm tap and not knowing how low the impedance swing is, makes me wonder if this amp is the best fit for this speaker...? My pre is the ARC Ref 3.
All feedback and opinions are welcomed and appreciated.

Bavarian
The Olympica II is a 4 ohm speaker and your Ref 110 has 4 ohm taps. I have no experience with the Olympica but I would think they would be an excellent match with your Ref 110.

Give it a try and you just might be surprised

I would say solid state. But I have also heard them with ARC cd, preamp and amp and that is also good. Probably most a matter of taste.

Any specific SS recommendations?

I like Krell from the Evo series so that what I choose for my system. The combination of a little bit warm speaker with an organic touch and smooth presentation likes the power and control that Krell delivers.
For sure, there are a lot of amps that works well. Here are some more.
I know that Plinius works well.

McIntosh newer ss amps- like MA8000.

Former Esoteric model I'v tried with good results.
A-80 mono

Burmester 911 works well.

And more...

The best way is to try at home. Good luck.

I have a VS115 that works really well for me. I confess to being a big "midrange" guy and the combination of ARC tube electronics with my Cremona M's does the trick for me. I found solid state amps produce a more "etched" sound that some listeners will prefer, but the midrange fullness and richness that I look for isn't quite there.

Congrats on the Olympica II's! I'll tell you what, why don't you bring them down to my place and you can hook them up to my McIntosh MAC6700 - that should give you a pretty solid idea I'm only a few miles away! We could just unplug the Tannoy's and put your Olympica's in their place - you'd be welcome to listen as long as you'd like and even bring your own source if you'd prefer that, too.

Or to my place? Just bring the speakers and we try them with Krell.

Easy ride over the puddle...
