Bi-Amp Sonus Faber?
I spoke with an ARC dealer a few days ago that mentioned ARC had been playing around with the Amati Futura using the ARC solid state amps on the low and the Ref Tube Amp on the mid/hi section. Anybody ever try this? Is mixing brands a bad idea when doing this? Was thinking of giving it a try using the BAT VK-250SE on the low and the Ref 110 on the mid/hi. Thoughts or experiences with such a setup?

Using different brands of amplifiers or even different models from the same company can be hit or miss when used for independently driving the bass and mids/highs in various applications. You may find some excellent combinations that showcase the strong points of each amp, while with other combinations there can be obvious mismatches in their sonic performance or relative gain. You shouldn't automatically assume that certain combinations won't work, I've found that you generally need to try them in a specific setup to know for sure. If you decide to include an active crossover you can then match levels of output, but there is often a tradeoff in performance by having to run the signal through the additional active circuitry.
