Default It can be used a standalone DAC too

It is a preamp, but can be used a standalone DAC too, which is what I am planning to do with it. I'll feed all of my digital sources into the D100 and then run the balanced outputs of the D100 to the balanced inputs on the MA6600. It should work great!

Hello,
I have been told by the Sumiko salesrep for Canada, that if you did not place an order for the Wadia 121 when it was first announced, it is unlikely that your order will be filled. They have more orders on their books than the production run. Wadia will undergo a total marketing direction change - I expect more information at CES. Now that Fine Sounds owns McIntosh and Audio Research, they are looking at how Wadia will fit in their stable of brands. I would try to confirm if you are in the group that will get a 121.
Best of Luck,
Bryan

Perhaps the Burr Brown from the c48, c50 pre is used. For 2500.00 that would make sense to me. Although it's marketing genius if the strategy is to attract non Mc users with computer only set ups, that at a later date they are so enamoured with the units performance and the brand they invest in the larger much more expensive components down the road!

Then again, it would be a win for us if it was the DAC from the MCD1100.

I would be interested in this unit also .....but....will this D100 be better than the DAC in my C50?? Where's Chris at?

Let's just hope the D100 meets specs before shipment and we don't have to wait for any firmware updates in 6-18 months.

At that price point, I think it's wishful thinking.

So it's a preamp and stand alone DAC?... And it can be used i either fashion? So instead of using the digital inputs of my MCD500 I could run my Sonos through the D100 and run the D100 through my C2200?

Would sonic benefits if any would that provide?

Every time I sit back and reflect on this 'digital' mania, I keep thinking anyone who owns and MCD500 or 1100, or intends on getting the new OPPO 105, doesn't really need a DAC, unless they have multiple digital inputs.

Am I missing something obvious here?

If you already have a McIntosh DAC somewhere in your setup (MCD500, C48, C50, MCD1100, etc.) there's probably not much reason for you to also buy the D100. However, if you do not have a McIntosh DAC and are not interested in the MCD500/1100, the D100 is a great option. I can see those with integrated amps flocking to the D100, as well as those with slightly older gear that does not have digital inputs (C46/45 owners).

.. Thanks that makes sense to me, or if someone doesn't want to use a CD player....

Now to sit back and wait for reviews on how it sounds!...
