Sorry to hear of your troubles. I too was half expecting something to go wrong. I do have confidence it will be solved though.

Congrats to Poobah for receiving one of the first MX150's but his experiences with a brand new unit are not totally unexpected and I am sorry to hear of his issues -- consider that the Denon AVP has had very few complaints and it has been out for over two years -- perhaps Mc should have had Denon engineering help since they are owned by the same company. YMMV

Poobah, you've kneeled and offered sacrifice at the altar of McIntosh to the tune of $12K. Such is the price to pay for worshipping the Gods of high end audio. I can only hope the Gods are merciful enough in return to get the component you've waited for quite some time all fixed up, sorted out and back to you in timely fashion. Good luck with it, I am sure it will live up to your expectations once everything is right.

Hopefully McIntosh acts quickly - it is rare to get this kind of proper feedback from a well-informed and detailed customer. Usually they may tell a dealer and the communication stops there.

The fact we have an Ivan and a Ron C. here gives Poobah a significantly louder voice which should help Mc to respond to a potential production line issue - or something that just bugged (and don't say this never happens or "we QC everything extensively" - the market and the end user will still find things that nobody else would have ever thought could happen just out of pure happenstance).

However, again, it is up to the manufacturer to respond - especially with such a flagship unit.

Kinda reminds me when I bought my new Lambo Gallardo E-Gear, driving it home made such a clanking noise switching gears; I turned around and brought it right back to the dealer.

The owner drove it, said the noise was completely normal. I said good, then get me a 6 speed. Been happy ever since!

You made me blush there for a moment. Everything but the highlighted section I'd have to whole-hearted agree with. Perhaps in another 20 years the rest may be true.
