Francis - they are absolutely a must have! Let's just say that the Sophia Electric 6SN7s are better to the point that even during break in of my 105, which I was going to do with the stock EH tubes, I couldn't stand it and had to listen to it with the Sophias instead!

JJinID, I am letting my Modright Oppo 105 break in just by everyday listening because it sounds so good. I have I think about 50 hours on it. What differences did you observe with extensive break in?

I don't think so - my tubes were ordered from GCA via ModWright.

The sound was a tad bright in my system for the first 100 hours, and I noticed this when I compared it to my MW 95 which was smoother and darker sounding. The 105 has smoothed out considerably now, while still maintaining the same level of increased detail and soundstage!

I never put that much credence in the reviewer who reviewed the Modright Oppo 105. He rants and rants, but you never really know what he thinks. I sure don't hear what he does. I would be very upset if I were Dan.

Welcome and congratulations on your ModWright, rayofsi!

I will definitely give the Psvane tubes a try at some point. I'm really liking the Sophias right now but have heard good things about those also...
