Talking My Home Theater

My theater is almost done!

Just waiting on the carpet to be installed and we will be rockin'! My dad and my brother Daryl are planning on coming up to voice in my W/P 6's on the 24th (if the carpet is in by then). I have a lot of work ahead of me still though. Need to get all the wall plates in, equipment on the racks, solder all the connectors, etc. This is going to be fun!

I will be shooting some pics and video of it, so stay tooned and wish me luck!

Deby

Tell Dad he better be bringing along a truck load of goodies from the factory to replace those old worn out W/P's. Thats what Dad's are for.

Oh no no no I would never replace the W/P 6s!! I recently did get them repainted to Desert Silver and my dad had the resisters and drivers changed out. So he already took care of them for me. He is so wonderful!

I did buy a pair of surrounds and another Parasound amp that he will be bringing down though!!

Buy? Buy!? BUY!?.....Come on Dad, get with the program!

Just kidding. I worked for my father in the auto business for 39 years and bought 3 cars (wife, daughter and I) when I quit back in November. Never thought it would be right to ask for free cars. There is a fine line between getting gifts or being a freeloader and taking advantage, a line that I did not want to cross.

Her definition of "buy" and your definition of "buy" are probably off by many thousands of dollars.

I would buy WA all day at her "buy" rates.

Deb.......This is exciting. Looking forward to following the progress, seeing photos, and reading your review of the finished theater. It is a serious challenge, but you are right, it is a ton of fun. Congratulations.

I have never asked to recieve anything for free from Wilson Audio. I know how much it costs to build them, and the labor to build them. I respect my parents and their company and I am willing to spend money to have them!

It is a serious challenge. We first started thinking and designing the room when we bought this house 2 1/2 years ago. We finished the rest of the basement first (1500 sq ft: 3 bedrooms, bathroom, office, equipment room for our future theater room, and linen closet... and yes we did 95% ourselves!!) so our girls could have their own rooms.

We had the plan for the room finalized before the beginning of this year, and deconstruction of the existing room and construction of what is now the theater room started the beginning of Jan.

The room is 19 1/2 x 13 1/2. It has a full maple bar with granite countertops, maple cabinets, and the doors to the equipment is maple as well (still need to get the glass inserts for them). Rope lighting around the ceiling as well. All that is left is carpet which I just found out will be installed on Friday!

My project before Friday is going to be putting the spades and connectors on the Transparent cabling that is run through out the room!
