I grew up with valves/tubes and I often wonder how long it will be before I reject solid state and ‘return home’... PrimaLuna definitely on a shortlist.

I think that point-to-point circuitry is a work of art. Neatly twisted heater cables run close to the chassis. The chassis mounted tube sockets is such a refreshing change from PCB mounts. Easy to repair if necessary. Yes Sir a work to behold.

Am thinking the same thing. Will likely give solid state a few more months before finalizing my thoughts. But, I won't be purchasing any piece of gear that Kevin Deal is involved with (PrimaLuna).

Have found the Gold Lion KT77s to be a great alternative to EL34s when its time to do some tube-rolling.

Serge - congrats on the PL HP. It's a great product - well engineered and manufactured.

I have enjoyed its little brother, the DiaLogue Premium Integrated for many years. It has performed flawlessly and just last week, finally went through the first two tubes.

Glenn - too bad you didn't have a good experience with Kevin. There seems to be an extreme polarization of opinions regarding him.

Having both is also an option

Never had any bad experiences with Kevin Deal. Amazing that he recognized me when I called him the other day with a question considering last time I purchased something from him was in 2001 and he remembered.

Glad to hear your PrimaLuna is reliable. I don’t have any doubts, this thing is built like a tank with amazing level of quality of components and looks great!

The tube life should be quite good. Considering the 8 EL34’s that we’re on all day long, this HP is not throwing nearly as much heat as I thought it would. The tubes are just cruising along and judging by the transient response and bass articulation, this amp has tons of capacitive reserve for great dynamic response. Certainly grabbed a hold of the Harbeths which are only 85dB. This amp sounds as effortless as my ARC REF250 did driving much more efficient big Tannoy speakers. All that and I have been listening in Triode mode!

Congrats Serge!

Yes, glowing tubes do have something magical about them.
Not only visually.

You had me thinking though that a Schiit Ragnarok was going to be your amp.

Thank you Bart. It is probably a great amp but the Ragnarok is a totally different flavor from this EL34 Triode magic box.
