I have both halogen sconce lighting and over head hi hat lights. It is the hi hat light bulbs which are making the noise. As the bulbs have needed to be replaced I put in the flood light shaped, compact fluorescent hi hat bulbs which match perfectly with the incandescent bulbs both when the lights are off or on. It takes the florescent bulbs about a minute to come up to full brightness . Once they come up to full brightness the color of the lighting is the same and these bulbs do no make the vibration noise I have with the filament style bulbs when the music is loud. I do not have a dimmer switch in the 2 channel room. When I want softer lighting I use the wall sconce and when I want more light the hi hats.
