Great thread and many nice pcs of art.
I have a favorite artist but have a really hard time picking a favorite. Canaletto was a 1700s View Painter mainly working in Venice but also London for a time. I first fell in love with his work while in the National Gallery in London. I could stand there all day looking at the amazing detail in his paintings. I just saw a news article last week where they uncovered one of his works in a basement storage area in Denver Art Museum Canaletto Found In Storage: Curator Discovers An 18th Century Masterpiece Hidden At Denver Art Museum (VIDEO) This may be my fav because of the location in London. -- ...'Almost' looks like a mushroom though. ...But it's not, it's a tree, and I love it! ...The colors in it, radiant like the sun, and the sky's texture, the blues, and the earth's reflection, from the sun.
* That beautiful tree, it looks like a baobab, from Madagascar. ...I love baobab trees! |

That is exactly what pulls me into this one. It is of the construction of one of the earlier Westminster Bridges, if you could pan to the left, Big Ben would be right there.
It is really hard to get the detail of his work from these shots. I have a book of his work and have been able to see the real ones at the British Museum and National Gallery, but there are also onesies here and there in US art museums. |

One of my favorite artists is Andrew Wyeth, but you asked for a painting. The painting that affected the way I view art is Starry Night. That's one painting that one should view in person. Pictures don't do it justice.
