Default Dealer opening and inspecting order before delivering to you? normal?

Ok.. simply question, when you order a product from your dealer (in my case we're talking McIntosh)... is it normal for your dealer to insist that they open the box and inspect it to be working before delivery to you?

Or do you just come in, pick up the box and set it up and test it at home?

I know some of you might have the dealer come out and install your stuff, so not talking to you all, as the answer there is obvious.
