Default I'm Discovering REVEL: WOW!!!

I have been become more and more interested in Revel (and Harman) after watching an amazing video on youtube from DR Floyd E Toole.

Started reading up on the Revel line and how they double blind test Revel products vs competitors. Refreshing to find a speaker company based on sound & research rather than marketing.

Anyway, I had the pleasure of listening to the Salon 2's and the F208's at length yesterday at the Harman store in NYC. Impressed! Very impressed!
The Salon 2 is an absolutely spectacular speaker. Effortless, neutral, real. Stunning. For you lucky Salon 2 owners, you know you have something special.

The F208 is a bang for the buck champ. WOW. It's bass response is not as flat or as deep as the Salons and the highs aren't as sweet, but they are damn great for the price and bring a lot of what makes the Salons sound great to the table! The midrange is spectacular.

I've been auditioning speakers for a few weeks now, and I'm happy to report I'm a few weeks away from purchasing a pair of Revel F208s.

Just wanted to share my new found enthusiasm.

Pio - Your enthusiasm is well justified - You are in good company ... I like these speakers a lot myself - Have a friend who loved my Salon2s but with kids in school couldn't justify the price and opted for the Performa F208 - He gets a nice taste of that Revel room filling magic and still manages tuition payment

Revel is known for a seamless transition between driver frequencies and they don't disappoint on this model - The crossover to the woofers at 270 Hz is a nice spec for any speaker but at this price point is an especially nice touch - I think that is what makes the soundstage present so well

On the back they have a nifty pair of switches to tweak you tweeter and also allow for boundary reinforcement - Fine tuning your tweeters and allowing for basic room acoustic challenges makes a great speaker sound still sound great even if the room has challenges (Way to often a speaker is great in the show room but at home falls flat)

Erick Lichte at Stereophile Magazine gave this model a rave review in it's July 2014 issue - Phrases like "a coherence that I found intoxicating" and "I have never heard a $5000/pair speaker play so loudly, so easily, so musically" ..... the Performa speaker line continues a history of top notch performance for the dollar spent - Check it out if you are interested in his measurements

Anyway let us know who the break in period goes

I absolutely love my F208's. I originally bought mine with the intention of using them as a bridge to Sonus Faber Olympicas after a couple of years but I have been happy enough to hold off for the time being. Good luck, you will not be disappointed.

I was planning on purchasing this weekend and the Northeast snow storm got in the way of it. Will have to be next, the Harman store in NYC has them ready for me

all2ears - yes, the reviews have been amazing! I started doing my research and found the 6moons, Absolute Sound, & Stereophile reviews amongst others. However, I really got interested after I discovered a post of a double blind test Harman did with the F208 against some pretty stiff competition including the $24k flagship of a brand I know very well. When I heard these babies for myself, I got hooked.

McDaddy, I know exactly what you mean!

Masterlu - congrats on becoming a Revel dealer!

Well done Ivan!

I'm in love with my black Studio 2's. Salons we're just too big and inefficient for my room. Studios are stupendous with seemingly endless headroom. Floating on Ultra 5's is heavenly with tubes.

I am getting better sound than ever from my Revel speakers since I put in a Shunyata Sigma HC power cord to a Cyclops v2 for my amps. Now I may upgrade some other cords.

May I ask where the NYC Store is? I haven't been able to locate it so far.

The store is very nice. They feature many Harman products including the big JBL Everest speakers and they just brought in the M2 studio monitor. The downstairs room with the Salon 2 set up is superb. Very cool store with really nice people.
