Default Renaming Input Assignments

Well, I finally got around to renaming the input assignments on my McIntosh MA 8000. From reading through the manual when I first got the amp, I knew this could be done, but it only took about 4 years to actually get around to it.

I renamed the Phono MC to E-Flat
AUX to RT-707
Server to BR-20
DVD to X-1000R
CD to BD-205

I left the USB D/A input as is even though I have a 23" HP All-In-One Touch as my digital server connected to it.

The only thing the manual really didn't explain is how to correct a mistake. The _ symbol is actually a space key and so it'll erase an errant selection if need be.

Pretty cool feature. If I want to go back just do a reset and everything is erased. Has anyone around these parts done this?

I renamed the inputs on my D1100. Once I got use to the process - especially getting spaces right - it was no problem. I performed a reset once to get back to baseline and started again.

As my system grew and evolved I found myself changing input names and input types on my MX135 numerous times.

Is there not a web interface for the MA8000? If so, it’s the easiest way to manage everything!

I renamed the inputs on my C2500 and my MA6600. Once you get the hang of it, it was easy Peazy. The biggest problem I had was renaming one of the inputs to coax1. I kept trying without realizing you first had to assign it as an input. Once I did that, no problem. I find it’s the little things like this that really makes the Mac products stand out.

As I worked for a professional sound company, that had a HT and Hifi division, and I programmed all the professional systems I designed and installed. So when HT systems came along I was the one who got the chore of do ing the first ones and helping others on the staff. Let me tell you Mac is straight forward and simple compared to some others. B&K AVR's had the most flexibility, but the depths you had to go thru to change just one parameter could be hair pulling. Yamaha and Sony were challenging, too. I found Mac to be the easiest most of the time. Try a MX 150/151 or the newer HT processors if you want to have some fun. Especially when the latest updates to the 150/151 tie your hands...Mac is always willing to help and they are very patient with their customers. They along with Apple care are the best helping poor frustrated users when they have lost all hope. There are reasons we buy Mcintosh other than performance parameters. They take care of us after the sale, like no one else.

IDK. I've been through the manual cover to cover several times and didn't see anything that resembled web interface instructions.
