12-13 hrs, but I 'gain' an hour with time zone change. Folks in DFW have been escaping to cool dry mountains of CO in summer for years, so I guess it's just in our DNA. Good sound will make it so much more tolerable. I try to engage the dogs in stimulating conversation, but they prefer to just read their comic books. I actually organize my CDs by part of trip. Piano sonatas for a quiet calm 5am departure, then blend of symphony and acoustic jazz for several hours, with Dire Straits, Pink Floyd to help jolt me out of the late afternoon lull (live performances with pumped up crowds help stimulate). Lyle Lovett is always appropriate going through desolate west Texas and panhandle.

Sometimes, I go to Santa Fe for a couple days of day hiking in the Pecos before heading up to CO. That breaks up the drive.

I see you're in MT. I used to hike in the Bob with friends, but since I now solo hike, I stay away from grizz country.

Everything's backwards south of the equator. I think Yanks have a hard time adjusting when driving down there or in UK, too.

Happy to! I've never had a car with three drivers in each door. There's noticeably more detail across the mid frequencies which I presume is a result. They use the same kevlar cones as in my D2s (and two prior floor sets before), same as they do in BMW, I see.

In addition to a full equalizer, it offers the ability to select the acoustic of three venues - studio, stage, or concert hall. The concert hall produces a fairly faithful warmth and soundstage for orchestral pieces unlike anything I've had in any previous car.

I had two Audis before this (A6 Avant, then A4 Avant). The Volvo driving experience is not as engaging as either Audi or BMW. If Audi and BMW were still bringing the A6 or 5-series wagons to the US, my choice would have been more difficult.

It’s almost all grizzly country now. There are groups of bears 60+ miles from the Rocky Mountain Front, which has not been seen for over 100 years. Over the past 15 years, there are grizzly in some of the smaller mountain chains and isolated “islands” of mountains, but such is life. I will take my chances with the 4 legged animals vs the 2 legged variety.
The Bob is spectacular. You can still hike in there for a week or more without seeing another person.

The Volvo looks great, there is only one dealer in the state, so it makes that purchase a little more unrealistic for me.

That's the appeal of our Wilderness Areas, isn't it? I may need to swing by and pick you up then head out for a hike. How fast do you run the 440? You probably know -- one great way to ensure survival from bear attack is to be able to out-run your hiking partner(s).

I'm now seeing that the B&W in BMW includes diamond tweeters, while in the Volvo, they are aluminum. I thought that the diamond tweeters were sensitive to shock. I'm surprised they are used in the doors of cars that get slammed shut repeatedly.

That's why I insist everyone I hike with leave their shoes untied.
