Ivan, I think you have a good plan idea: a truly statement system. I have noticed that you like class A and tri-amplification if possible. I also believe you need a system whose components you are familiar with, i.e. your Reference system. Building a system that is ultra expensive and high end with unfamiliar components is unwise.

Here would be my choice. Speakers are the key because they will dictate to a large extent your other components. Speakers: Sonus Faber SE17's. Recently upgraded with all the new SF technology, it may be the best super speaker on the market. At 300,000 dollars it represents a good value. This is probably because SF is selling a few of them and this helps keep prices down. For amplification: 6 Accuphase A-250 monoblocks tri-amped to the SE17. For preamp: Accuphase C-3850. For the digital front end: the Accuphase 950 series processor and transport. Cabling: Wire World Silver top line speaker cables, IC's, and power cords. Shunyata Sigma USB and top line power conditioners. I can't help you with computer audio, streaming, or vinyl. I think however my choices for you would be superb. I would not go with Dag or dCS. I don't think you would like the sound. I don't think you would ever be satisfied with planars or electrostatics. No question, SF, Accuphase, and Wireworld are the way to go flat out top line. Also the Accuphase T-1200 tuner.

Charles... I appreciate your input, and suggestions. The SE17 would literally have to be light years ahead of the The Sonus Faber in sound reproduction.

I have heard them on no less than 3 occasions, twice in a home environment. I much prefer the Aida, even if they were priced equally.
