Vintage Crown FM2 Tuner On Its Way

The preamp was the slim line. There was nothing slim about the amp but I don't recall the model number. Didn't look anything like the picture you've posted though. I didn't have the wood cases either. I could never have gotten rid of the pieces you show in that picture. Gorgeous!

No, the amp was a bit taller, at least as I recall, but the face plate of the amp and the preamp matched the tuner, right down to the handles. The preamp was in the same case size as the tuner.

Indeed, that is a nice 'rack'. The 'usual' host for our SEPAS (southeast PA audio society) casual listening 'get togethers' is also into vintage Crown. Has several of their preamps, power amps (both the 150 & 300) and recently finished the refurb on a Crown reel-to-reel. Seems to me he may also have a couple of other pieces, but he probably has 40-50 pieces of vintage gear and a dozen sets of speakers, so is difficult to keep it straight.

I plan to install the FM2 in the control room side of the recording studio. It should be a nice addition to one of my engineering racks in the control room. Funny how things work out sometimes. Yes, I am smiling.

Dan when you have Pete over you may not want to turn you back. He may decide he made a mistake not picking it up when he had the chance.

Glenn......Pete (Vintage Pete) also has a very clean Crown reel to reel tape recorder. Pete believes all it needs is a new pinch roller to get it working again. It is a great looking industrial design tape machine. I believe Pete plans to get the Crown reel to reel working again this year. I hope so. It is kind of sad to see it sitting in his living room as a rack ornament.
