I was in the same boat and had a 452 on load for 3 weeks while waiting for the 601s. I was very happy with the 452 until I heard the 601's in my system.

I own a 452 and 3 601s, the 452 like the 462 is great, but the 601s and I am sure 611s are a tad bit quieter and of course more power etc.

But not a huge diff in sound.

That said if you can swing it go mono blocks, hell if you really have plenty of $$$$$ go with the tube mono blocks!

Not sure if this was for me, the OP, or both.

I would love to go with the MC2301s, but don't have "plenty of $$$$$", which is why I'm trying to talk myself into a MC452. I would have to sell of a bunch of equipment, that I would like to keep, for a second system, just to afford a preowned pair of MC601s. I'm close to having enough for a 452 though.

I think I might hold out, though.
