Sorry to hear you got broken into and violated.

Just don't go off the deep end, if you do decide to get a security system. I install and service them and have seen people buy way to much AFTER they get broken into.

There is no need to extravagant systems in a home, because it still will take police 15 to 30 minutes to respond. Good yard signs, video surveillance and a VERY LOUD siren on a basic security system works best...

Also, as mentioned above LARGE DOGS!

Again, sorry it happened to you.

Crime is everywhere, and looks like even to our friends in Canada.

Despite the emotional tragedy, they didn’t take your health and brain to figure out what you can do to prevent future issues - most times, criminals look for easy in and out targets in these type of circumstances.

Dan,
I have been a victim of burglary twice. Both times I was burglarized again 6 mons later after replacing the stolen items. Protect yourself.

Sorry to hear this Dan, the bastards...

All the best getting this over with with the insurance company and also out of your system. Never been burglarised (yet -but it's a matter of time here in S America) although I do have a 4 inch wound on my back after being cut while facing 4 who attempted to assault me. Facing a 300 pounder they should have known better

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I've been in your shoes, so I know that the well-intentioned advice here to get a security system or large dogs isn't helpful right now. Rather than offer you counsel, I'll just extend to you my empathy for such a horrific experience. And even if your insurance company is first class - and mine was extremely honorable to work with - it will still be a nuisance that you have to manage. So best of luck with that, too, and best of luck to all in your family.
