Sounds like a lot of, the words I want to use are no longer PC......

It appears your dealer does not want to make the trade retroactive, and most likely really doesn't want the trade at all.

Since there is always more to the story from both sides judgment from afar are speculative.

Dealers are independent entities....Mac can not really force them to do anything.

Thanks, I'm over it anyways. I decided the MC462 is the amp I want. My dealer just made a compromise and although it may not be as much as the trade up suggests, it really is OK with me. I'll be just as happy .

In the past year I have purchased 3 MC611’s, 1 MC452, 1 MT5, and one MP100. That is a lot of money and feel like it should make me somewhat of a valued customer. I called McIntosh twice with a couple of technical questions and was given snarky attitudes and I felt like I was being a bother as opposed to feeling like a valued customer. And I agree that this tradeup program adds to that frustration with them as a company and how they deal with their customers.

With that said I purchased a Bryston SP4 (one unit) and James Tanner and Gary Dayton from Bryston went out of their way to be as helpful as humanly possible. Even setting up a home visit to calibrate my unit with me! Way above and beyond and going forward that is the company I will continue to give my business to.

I completely understand jbags. In my case I really wanted to pair my B&Ws with a Mac amp and probably would have bought a used MC452 if I had to. Bryston sounds like a great company and I know several people who really like their gear. I also received a so-so attitude when I spoke with Mac on the phone about my DOA MC462, on the other hand, I was able to call and speak to someone pretty quickly !!

Anyone knows why McIntosh offers these trade up deals?
Do they go back to the shelf for parts?
Thanks!

Thanks

It seems to me that the WOM upgrade program rely upon the dealer to take all the risk and responsibility of selling the trade in.

IMHO it seems disingenuous. I would expect McIntosh to take in the trades, refurbish them and sell them at Certified Preowned.
