BTW, I should clarify, I don't use the P10...I use a Transparent Ref Power Conditioner...but the Ultra 5s/HRS Nimbus Couplers made a huge improvement. I am told by many people that the difference applies to other power conditioners as well...

Although this thread is for P10 and/or P5, not for stillpoints or Transparent power conditioner, I can't hold to say my experience with stillpoints is that they should placed directly under the component. Putting elastic de-coupler before stillpoints will soften its effect.

If your combination sounds good to you, it is probably possible to have the same effect with a lower grade stillpoiints, ie Ultra SS or even Mini. Perhaps the Ultra 5 can be placed in other places with even better result.

Fortunately, after several days of various combinations, the HRS nimbus coupler turned out NOT to soften the effect...it simply allowed the middle C of the piano tonal weight to return. The clarity for which Stillpoints are well known remained.

As for the Ultra SS and mini, those did not provide the clarity of the Ultra 5s, and now with 27 of the Ultra 5s in the system (along with a few HRS M3Xs on the signal components), i am definitely done! whew!

In most cases, i preferred 4 Ultra 5s per cmponent, but not always, and the HRS nimbus couplers are mainly used with the Ultra 5s that under the power conditioner and PSU...but not the amp. Under the amp, speakers, sub and transport, Ultra 5s alone are great.

Just my experience. that said, 2 other users of Ultra 5s now also have tried the combination with HRS nimbus couplers and found the same return of tonal weight in the mids.

I have similar number of stillpoints and nordost sort fut / kone. With the base plate on stillpoints and similar in Nordost, the combinations in their usage is unlimited. My general impressions are four pieces are usually better than three pieces, the base plate of stillpoints enhances the effect. Power supply and powerplant are more sensitive to isolation. The usage in speaker is mandatory. There is a risk of over treatment resulting thin and dry sound.

There are 12 stillpoints ultra 5, 8 ultra SS, 4 base plates, 12 Nordost sort fut, 4 sort kone TC in my system. I am considering more ultra 5's.

Wow TLi! That is quite a setup! And yes, it seems we share some observations about Ultra 5s which is great.

If i may, I am most curious to learn about any observations you may have about Nordost Sort fut vs Ultra 5s. Thanks for any guidance!

I would like to know the comparison of Sort Fit vs Ultra 5 too. The Ultra 5 are now under Pass Labs Xs 150 and the Sort Fut's are under Wilson Audio Alexis. I would like to swap the two sets and try but you can see this is not a single man job. I shall arrange a hifi buddy to come and help out in the near future.
You shall be fully informed with the result.
