Is it possible to tell from the photo whether this is a mono splitter or stereo, or how the input signal is routed to the outputs? I don't think so. It could just be a Y-adapter.
Also, it is mistaken to state that 12V triggers are mono. Some are "stereo," such as is found on some McIntosh products.
And please forgive me for splitting hairs, but a mono plug does not have two rings. It has one tip and one ring, hence the designations "tip-ring" and "tip-ring-sleeve" to describe these types plugs.
