Congratulations. I have the XA100.5s and they sound great. I bet the XA160.5s are awesome. Please post pictures along with your comments.

Regarding warm up, if you don't mind paying the high electric bill leaving them on all the time the days you listen to your system might be the way to go.

Nostromo,

Congrats on your XA-160.5. You have an awesome pair of amps! I leave my XA-100.5 in the standby mode all day and turn them on the minute I get home from work. I let them warm up for two hours before I do any critical listening. I will listen almost immediately as background music. You will waste a lot of electricity if you leave them on all day.

Enjoy,
Ken

I have found that most amps take 2 hrs to warm up.

Sounds about right. My tube amp and preamp takes a good hour...

I think you guys are worrying too much about so very little. Any time spent listening to music is time well spent. All my listening time is important so critical listening is only when I am repeatedly playing portions of tracks when considering and comparing component or cable A vs B.

It takes my X600.5 amps a few hours to shine, and after 24 hours they are golden. However, since they suck so much electricity I can't leave them on all the time. During the week I turn them on around 7:30 PM when I get home, and off around midnight. However, on Friday I turn them on when I leave for work around 9 AM so they sound pretty good when I get home. Generally, I will leave them until midnight on Sunday, so the weekend has the best sound.

Just got my studio put back together. It was off-line for a week. When I fired everything up, I definitely didn't like the sound. Been listening for an hour and it's "alright". I'm hoping it will sound a lot better tomorrow.
