I removed those 4 round rubber things, as per junkers recommendation. Very easy. Just start to separate from wood, and I believe there is one centered nail which pulls right out. Now if only I can convince myself to remove the bottom wood skirt, which the Flamencos don't have, but I do have on the Valencias..... If for nothing else, cosmetic reasons. My stands are perfect dimension to the speaker base, which the wood skirts sit inside of. As far as removing my grills, I may not do that. Nice work on the bracing and your new cabinets Josh. You're just showing off now. Happy Holidays guys!

Thanks. I will check, nut sure if tehy are still there. Looks that the pot meter (L-pad?) is not working on either speaker. I had no time yet to take teh back off and check what is going on in there.

Another question - I am thinking adding Mapleshade brass footers at the bottom of teh stands legs. With that they will be about 12" high (the stands taht is).
Is it worth adding those? (already have one set just need to get one more)
IF I add the footers, should I still add the cork/rubber pads (another inch roughly) to minimize vibrationor is it overkill? I will experiment for sure but was wondering what is your experience?

Excellent Junker.
I am waiting on your review of how it sounds compare to your flamenco.

Well I took the little footers off, but now the speakers are not flush with the stands. Both have a bit wavy bottoms. Might need to take them off at one point and replace.
Menawhile I will need to add soem isolation or blue-tack.

I think I may add soem brass footers to the stands. Sounds is much tighter, but need to careful with level or it becomes really harsh (read my ears are bleeding). Both with LPs and CDs, not so much with FM (Fisher FM-1000). Also, much sweeter with Almarro and Trafomatic amplification (in triode).
XO from Werner in the spring...enjoy the music!

Thank you. Me and my friend made 2 pairs. This is his set the night we finished the wood work and applied the first coat of boiled linseed oil. There is 10mm dense wool felt insulation on the back, top, and one side as per Altec suggestion to insulate one of each parallel wall. Chris will test how much is needed. The lower side and lower rear may or may not need to be insulated.

Chris now has a mint 401 and I think he wants to do an EMT arm when he gets his tax return.

Yah should be interesting. I just moved up to the Bay area. I'm not interested in running Werner's XO and will be making a pair for both me and Chris. Starting off with something I have in mind, and then consider adding the Markwart MF EQ mod, or N-1500 + MF EQ. The first XO's will be finished in a month or two. Already ordered oil caps, and need to order WPIO air core inductors in two weeks from Europe.

Well after taming some resonance with some 2X2" isolation pads at all corners, I can say that even without the XO upgrade the spekaers to wonders for jazz and vocals at appropriate (not too loud) levels. Really enjoyable experience. I think I will try to modify / fine tune with some addition of brass footers. I can imagine that perhaps changing to maple stands would also help, but for now my cheap stands should work. I am not too happy with the color i used - mis-match in daylight very obvious, totally OK at night.
