Jeff,

I appreciate the offer and may just do that. I am just waiting for a couple of reviews to come out on some gear I'm looking at. For some reason, I keep coming back to the AMR gear. It looks like it is built like a tank. How is she settling in?

Joe, I'd consider something better to feed the level of gear you currently own. Have you considered Esoteric?

Hi Mike,

I have and am considering everything. I don't know enough about esoterics sound. I'll have to look into them as well. I still want you over at some point.

I think it's nice to have at least one tube component in the chain. But I wasn't too keen having my Ayon CD5S hooked up to my Audio Research Reference 5.

In my case I opted for the tube in the preamp and sticking to SS for my sources.

I'd recommend having a listen to the Playback Designs MPS5 and EMM Labs XDS1 if you have a reasonable amount of SACDs or intend to build the collection. MPS3 if you don't. Or MPD3 if you want to use your existing transport.

There's a fair amount of SACDs out there. If you are thinking about it, I'd suggest going to cdjapan.co.jp and checking the collection out. New titles being released and it's not just classical. SHM SACDs are pricey but well worth it IMHO.

Hope this helps.

I decided to get the ModWright modification for my Sony XA-5400ES. It's the least expensive option at this point (with the potential of having the most bang for the buck) and several members who I trust very much pointed me in this direction. The only negative at this point is the lack of a digital input for a music server or computer playback. I am still in research mode for the the ultimate dac. The ModWright will buy me some time and I am looking forward to hearing the tubed XA-5400ES in my system in 2-3 weeks.
