I run the Alpha clock v2 75ohm to my ER/10MHz OCXO. It’s great and Omega clock was not out then. Will it be better with Omega, probably. But I have lower hanging fruit in my system so priorities…

Crion2, thanks for your input on the SR clock cable for the EtherRegen. I figure it will be at least the the Sigma, I just received my Omega Ethernet today and that thing is a beast, It might end up pulling my EtherRegen off my shelf.

Maybe you or someone can answer my question about the Ethernet cables on the EtherRegen. I have read that I should only be using non metal connectors going into the A side of the EtheRegen. Going from the B side to my Roon Nucleus + it is okay to use a metal connector Ethernet cable which is my SR Omega Ethernet. Do you know if there is proof of this and will it degrade the performance of the EtherRegen.

I reached out Uptone Audio with this question and never received a definitive answer. I am using a Vernon Ethernet to my McIntosh MX 170 for IP address to use the remote for IPad. But I still need to purchase one SR Ethernet cable for my Apple TV+ 4K and I wasn’t sure if I should just order another Vernon with a plastic connector or upgrade to the a alpha or Sigma.

As always I appreciate any help on help on this matter.

Richard... I use a small HRS DPX Damping Plate on my EtherRegen. It damps vibrations, improving SQ even more. Furthermore, it gives the combo more mass/weight. No worries of upgraded cables moving it around, or off your shelf. Very minor cost, btw.

PS: no problem using metal Ethernet cables on that side.

IMHO, an SR Omega ethernet will always improve performance since its the best ethernet cable in existence IMHO right now.

What I did and many others was to isolate it from your core router/switch by using SFP connection.

I also use HRS DPX on top of Eichmann Toppers their function is to dissipate heat from the ER. With the Toppers I can also use a single HRS Nimbus 1inch footer below the ER. But only if you take care of the heat with sinks on top of it IMHO.

Sigma CGC ground cable is connected to a Denali 6000T CGS terminal.

Crion2, can I use a standard stainless steel weight for the etherregen on the top? I can get a 2 kg which is about 4.4 pounds. Will stainless be okay to use, or would brass be better? I not concerned as much about the isolation as much as keeping the weight from the heavy cables turning it on it side.

An even more affordable option though unlikely that it is as effective as the HRX plate. The ER runs a bit cooler though in this position.

Uptone’s caution about metal connectors pertains only to the case when the shield is connected at both ends, as this will allow leakage current to pass. This isn’t an issue with Shunyata Ethernet cables. I use a Sigma from the B side to my streamer. Fiber runs to the A side.

Kennyb123, thanks for the input on the configuration on the etherregen. In my situation I don’t have the option to run a fiber optic cable the the etherregen.

I am running a 100 foot cat6 Ethernet from my router downstairs to my etherregen which is upstairs in our media room. I have the cat6 Ethernet going in to side a. I also have a SR Venom Ethernet with plastic connector on side a going to my Mcintosh mad 170 theater processor for a aiP address to communicate to my iPad to use it as remote control.

I need to get one more Ethernet cable foe my AppleTV+ 4k which will have to go out of the a side of the etherregen. I would assume that the best choice would be a Venom due to its plastic connectors? I would prefer a Alpha or Sigma but the use a metal connector. What are you thoughts?

On the b side of the etherrregen I am using a Omega Ethernet to my Roon nucleus+ and from the Roon a Omega USB to McIntosh C53 preamp which is my
endpoint.

Hope this clears up how I am using the etherregen in system. As always thanks for you input.

May I suggest using a RJ45->SFP device @your router downstairs? Then pull up an LC ODM4 fiber upstairs. It's much easier and lighter to pull through than cat7 cable.

Then use an Alpha/Sigma/Omega to your ATV4K depending on if it's a primary critical source or not. Do not worry about the plastic connector discussion with Shunyata ethernet cables. Go for the best in your application.

https://www.sonore.us/opticalModule-Deluxe.html

Finisar SFP and cable is available on the site as well.
