The new Nordost "Reference/ Signature" wiring is multi-color with a tight braid. The Discovery wiring is multi-color with a loose braid. The discontinued Nordost Valhalla wiring was silver.

The Mcintosh C500's phonostage does not have XLR Inputs. But, you can buy a new junction box with the Nordost Wire, should you choose to it in the new 3D arm. I believe it is a $200 upgrade for the 10.5" arm. The Junction box wired with the new Nordost wire will be around $300.

Advanced 101: thanks so much for your insight-- I should have known that about the mc phono. As for the 3D arm-- I kinda want it. Will definitely consider the the new Nordost-- sounds like it sounds better than the older version which I have.
