Default Anyone here have used Audio Research with Wilsons ?

Have a sophia 3 and exploring others amps to drive them with.
Although extremely happy with Luxman 505u (100w) driving them easily.
My short list includes the 70w EAR 890 or the Audio Research VSi60 or the VS115.
Care to comment ?

Thanks.. SLM

I am using a Ref 110 with Sophia 3s, it is fantastic, but I have not used anything else with the S3s. From all I have heard there is great synergy between ARC and Wilson. I do not think you can go wrong with the combo.

Hmm, my Wilson dealer just picked up the ARC line and he says he has never heard the Wilson Alexandria X2 sound better.... That is tough to imagine as I thought the Ayre/Wilson combo had extremely good synergy.

I used to drive my old Sophia 2 with ARC Ref110 - this was the best combo from all I tried, and I tried quite a few (ok, maybe with the exception with $100.000 Audio Note Ongaku).

I heard those Alexandrias, very briefly, last week. While I don't have a reference point in regards to the prior setup, I can say that I was enthralled with my experience. Their Sashas and Sophia 3s were still setup with Ayre gear.

I know Ref 110 is a famous match w/ the Wilsons, how about the lower end models like the VS115s or the VSI60 ?
Ref 110 is out of reach for the time being.

Thanks

I should have a VSi60 in my house to try with Sophia 3s shortly. I'll share my findings.

ARC 210 monos, Reference 5 and CD-8 alternating Sasha/Maxx 3....great match and sweet sound.
I do however alternate amps and enjoy different sonic characteristics without favouring one combo over the other.

Haven't heard the ARC switching amps...maybe you want to consider them too.
