But alas, its now stuck in no man's land - VU meters and red lights all on, but no screen display. Powering off and on, holding power button etc does nothing.

So have dropped it off to the NZ importers. Looks like it will be about two weeks to be looked at, let alone fixed. Oh well...
Damn -- sorry to learn of that. I know it's hard to do & easier said, but be patient. Maybe best it finally burped to prompt a service center visit.

Best to you and hope it isn't amiss for too long.

Thanks for the thoughts Bob.

Yes. I kept my Plinius integrated as a back up just for these situations.

So hooked my Plinius up (an amp I haven't used for a year but befoire then was working fine for a few decades).

Nothing on power up. Tried a different power point but still no change. Amp is dead

Thankfully I have few other amps to use as a pre-amp so the music still flows!

albeit not as good sounding...

Check the fuse on the Plinius before you give up on it. May be a $1 fix.

Did you try unplugging the c2500 and leaving it unplugged for at least 1 minute?

Yep.

I think I tried everything, pressing all knobs and buttons, using the remote, left unplugged overnight. Tried again.
Didn't want to open it up, so a short half hour drive off to the importers.

Then I would recommend you try the below as stated in post #6 in this thread. It worked for me and was not difficult at all.

a. Disconnect the AC power.
b. Remove the bottom cover – Yes turn the unit over.
c. Locate the main microcontroller. It is the square IC approx. 1cm across on the control PCB.
d. Locate the two buttons adjacent to the microcontroller labeled “PROG” and “RESET”.
e. Press and hold the “PROG” button while also plugging in the AC power cord. This will take some dexterity.
f. Hold the “PROG” button for at least 10 seconds to properly load the default boot loader.
g. After 10 seconds remover the AC power cord and release the button.
h. Re-apply the AC power once again.
i. The unit will be on – sort of… The front panel display will be dark and all the red LEDs will be lit. This is expected. The unit is now in update mode and should accept the firmware update.
j. NOTE: When the update software is run and the unit is discovered, the attached device model will be listed as “unknown”. This is expected. Just answer all prompts in the affirmative.

Paul,

I did consider doing this but then I thought cover off, fingers in electronics, power cords attached...

I didn't want to electrocute myself, and paying for a techie to look at it instead is well the price of my life!
