As water gets colder, the molecules of water lose their energy and move more slowly. Because the molecules are all locked into place, ice is hard and stiff.

Bob, for the most part we're talking about an electro-mechanical device, so yes I agree with a break-in time, within reason ............

Science is an elusive concept. We had no idea photons are actually behaving differently if they are being observed. (Double slit experiment). That photons can have an effect on each other over distance (quantum entanglement). That atoms can indeed travel back in time. Theories we are living in a holographic universe are gaining momentum, some are convinced we are living in a matrix or an ultra real virtual reality and finally that we create our own reality. No surprise then that a new pair of $$$ speaker cables yields the expected result of improving sound in our systems since it is what we expect and the illusion of reality we have just created/manifested in our listening room.

Speaker break-in should be complete rather quickly and almost all of it is regarding the surrounds. If we assume it takes ONE MILLION cycles to break in the surrounds, for a woofer at 20 Hz, that happens in about 13.9 hours. At 20 KHz a tweeter should break in after 50 seconds.

I picked one million as a number most people would think is enough to move a cone back and forth to break it in. One million a lot of times back and forth! In reality, I would expect a much smaller number to be sufficient.

Except for the fact that there aren't really any 20khz frequencies in our music. So it would take a little longer... Maybe 10 minutes [emoji48]
