Thanks everyone for the advice. It is much appreciated.

On another note...what sub would you recommend in the $1500 Canadian or less price range? New or used, doesn't matter. I don't really want to spend more than that because in the next couple years I'd like to get a used pair of 802D2's, and I don't imagine (at least for my needs) I will need a sub in a room my size with speakers that big. So I'd like to stay within a cheaper budget, and either sell the sub when I get the 802's, or move it to the family room where sound is less critical.

I'm kind of leaning toward two B&W ASW610's or one ASW610XP, just to stay within that brand.

You sold your sub after buying the bass traps?

Well I ended up pulling the trigger on a B&W ASW610. It was only $350 (Canadian) used from an audio dealer. I couldn't pass it up. So we'll see how it does, and if it's crap I'll just sell it. If it's good I think I'll get another one and run them one on each channel.

Now to start learning alllllllllll about subwoofer placement. I've came across this guide, and was wondering if this guy knows what he's talking about

http://www.soundoctor.com/whitepapers/subs.htm

I know they are a lot of very smart and educated people on this forum. If this guide isn't up to snuff, what other would you recommend?

As always, everyone's help is MUCH appreciated Happy new year!

It is a good start to understanding placement of a subwoofer. I have spoken with Barry on the phone before when I was setting up my system after buying new speakers. The key is experiment with placement if you can. If there is significant other involved and they chime in you are screwed.

In regards to that write up I posted a link to, how in the heck is anyone supposed to hear a 12 millisecond delay between ones subwoofer and main speakers?

Yes I sold was Canton Vento subwoofer with Vento speakers (first sell the speakers after the sub to same guy), now I have Canton Reference much better the bass with Gik bass trap.
For this price $350 is the price of 2 monster trap no-brainer .

It wont matter as much imwith the 683's and a single sub. Just set your crossovers right, move the sub around to see where it sounds best to you, set the phase (if available) and any EQ (if available). Experiment and uoull find a sweet spot you like.

B&w usually has a brief setup recommendation in their manual.
