Love the looks of the new C22 Mk V! I actually prefer it over the looks of the prior generation C22 ... as I like the more streamlined looks, I also prefer the rocker switches over the previous generation, but splitting hairs here. The specs are awesome, though the loudness button will be missed by some I'm sure.

I agree w/Jon on the C22 Mk4, classic C22 looks AND a tape monitor. I feel Mc is missing the mark on these vintage remakes if they're not going to bother with a tape loop. I realize I'm in the minority on that, but isn't part of the vintage look also the vintage feature set in a modern component? Same w/the loudness feature.
I feel like the new C22 looks are like the original C22, sort of mixed w/the C24 with a little flavor from 1980's Mc gear and then the modern red power button. One of the things I like about Mc gear is that, to me, all the vintages pair well together. My MR74 looked right at home with my C2300, the new C22 seems almost like a mishmash of vintages. I'm sure it'll sell quite well, I'm glad they are releasing new all analog preamps. |

When one considers the build quality, specs, country of manufacture, general looks, and what one imagines how these pieces likely sound, the pair is certainly priced right in the 'high end' marketplace. I can easily envision the pair giving its owner years of dependable musical enjoyment without breaking the bank.
I'm not in the market for these ... just sayin'. I'm less concerned about looks than the majority here. But I LOVE that the MC1502 is 7" less deep than the MC2152. At 28", the anniversary edition was a complete nonstarter. Very excited to read comparisons against the MC275!

My guess, a new 275 is just around the corner. Only a few Mc amps are still using the old drawn style metal transformer cans.

Like the 275, the 2301 still incorporates the old “drawn metal” transformer design. I’ll bet ya we will see a replacement sometime soon.
