Anybody on AA want to buy a C1100 now?

If I really want one, I will tell my dealer I need to know manufacturing date and serial number to verify with McIntosh what firmware is installed. Would for sure open the box at the dealer and turn the unit on and check firmware version. If not the most current, refuse delivery til McIntosh makes it right.

McIntosh needs to get their act together.

I drove 70 miles down to New Orleans on my day off with C1100, power cord, and manual. I didn't think to grab the remote. Since my dealer didn't have a C1100 on their showroom floor or any other component that uses HR085 (D1100 also ships with same remote), I was dead in the water and had to re-schedule another trip down to New Orleans. The tech tried to program a universal remote, but true to form, the remote control codes for the new HR085 are not part of any database that my authorized McIntosh dealer has access to. He programmed universal remote based on the C1000 codes but that failed to control the C1100. Bring your remote.
Ugh what a terrible waste of your time.... Glad to hear it worked out, no post some pictures

For what it's worth -- I just updated my Honda CR-V navigation system without a hitch. Thumb drive in the USB and follow the instructions - almost as easy as Oppo.

My C1100 display said "updating" for a while and his laptop installation program gave an error message. He followed instructions which gave sequence to power off c1100/remove USB update cable. When we power cycled the C1100 all was well, update successful. I think the error message had something to do with fact that McIntosh sent the correct firmware version but sent an older installation hardware version based on version listed by another user here on AA.

Yup the update software I received says v 1.04 but dealer says it's the current version. I am traveling and won't be home until sat, I will try it then. If it doesn't work i will have to ship back to dealership

Bummer

That's the correct/latest version:

Firmware update utility v1.04
Firmware v2.0.1

My dealer received fw update utility v1.03

Hi Richard

Yes, you must download to a computer before connecting via USB to the McIntosh. I had no issues to be honest but was a little nervous doing it myself after some of the issues I had heard people having. The instructions provided by McIntosh I found to be very good but you must be diligent as it erases the current firmware version before installing the most recent version.

A tip for you, other than reading the instructions carefully, is to make sure your dealer agrees to take the unit in and fix it at no cost to you if there is an issue.

Good luck with it!

Seems like as part of the install process is to install a San-ba driver. Did you have any issues with that?

Thanks

Seems like a very simple process. Perhaps people should RTFM?

Not sure about McIntosh, but I've flashed plenty of other things before and sometimes the update just times out and bricks the unit. Not necessarily just about reading the manual.
