McIntosh gear for years before my switch to Esoteric, I wouldn't have bought it if it were black.

Just wishing for it to be my CHOICE, and not the company's reluctance. I grew up with every component being only in silver. If you are paying high dollar for a CD player there should be a choice. The same discussion arises when choosing wheels for cars!

All the uber high end gear; Burmester, Accuphase, Esoteric etc does not offer a color choice.

I have black gear, silver gear, and black and silver gear; it all sounds great. Heck it even looks the same when I listen with the lights out. I am glad that I have no OCD and really could care less that my entire system is not the same colour. Just happy to be listening.

In fact, accuphase has their own color, making it even more difficult to mix and match with other brands. At least esoteric has the same bare aluminum (even the texture) as other Brands such as audio research. My esoteric and Audio research stuff looks pretty good together.

If I could afford accuphase, I'd probably prefer to go all accuphase anyway ;-)

This thread is great timing for me, as I have a Ref5se/ 75se and now I'm looking for a great digital source to pair them with. I love the sound of the cd9 in the showroom attached to the same components but as you all know there is no SACD and everything that was already said about the usb input/ digital products of ARC. I'm also interested in the K03x and currently using an Oppo BDP105. So please add your input about this match up with its sound etc. thanks, Pete

I have the Ref5/Ref75/K-03 combo. It's absolutely magical. I love the Esoteric brand so much that I just bought an Esoteric amp as well (still in transit...)

Esoteric products are among the highest craftsmanship and sound quality I have seen in the industry. I can't say enough about them!

I also have silver and black mixed throughout my system. I do the same, listen with lights down or off. You're an audiophile with high end gear, there is a little OCD in you.
