One thing I forgot to mention. My dealer recommended that I leave it on upsample even for Redbook.

I have posted in another thread about ARC burn-in - IMHO some ARC units sound very reasonable out of the box and during the first part of the burn-in they become sounding much worst - lacking the characteristic body and power of ARC. Only by more or less 300/ 400 hours things start to improve again and sometimes we need to wait until the 500/600 hours to have a decent sound again.

I own a CD8. I have compared my well burn-in CD player with a fresh unit and the difference was large - to the point that the person getting the new CD8 asked to keep my two year old unit.

Thanks for the input. I am beginning to notice a difference with the 9. The bad things are beginning to recede while the good things keep getting better. I have probably about 350 hours on it now if the dealer was accurate as to the 300 hours on the unit originally. I will have the unit for another week. At that point I will switch to the 7mod and I will know for sure.

By the way, would you happen to know of a classical music section on AA that does not have 5,000 posts and would deal with more obscure material? The only one I could find hadn't had any posts for six months or so.

Thanks again.

harold:

This is the large thread. It is large, but it has stayed active where other threads have not. Try it on for size. I think you'll find that the posters there are quite knowledgable.

I am looking forward to the arrival of my CD 9 in a couple of days. I will do a comparison to the CD8 and Esoteric K-03.

Did anyone notice that there are all these black material stick ontop of the capacitors, transformer, etc inside the CD09, just wonder what is the purpose of this black material?

It's vibration dampening material.

For my part I look forward to reading of your observations New guy , as the CD9 and the K-03 are both strong candidates in my own scheme .

Jasper.
